What happens under the shingles matters just as much
The shingle on top is only as good as the work underneath. In Maine’s climate, what you can’t see from the street decides whether your roof lasts 20 years or 30.
We tear off every old roof. We remove the old shingles all the way down to the roof deck. That way we can check every board and replace any soft or rotted decking before it causes problems under your new roof. If we find rotted decking, it typically adds $1,000–$3,000 or more, and we’ll show you exactly what we found before we fix it.
Then we build it back right.

Architectural vs. 3-tab shingles
You may see 3-tab shingles offered as a lower-cost option, so it’s worth knowing the difference.
3-tab shingles are flat, thinner and less durable. They cost less upfront but last only 15 to 20 years, resist less wind, and look dated. With Maine’s snow loads and freeze-thaw cycles, they simply don’t hold up as well.
Architectural shingles are thicker, with layered construction that gives a dimensional look. They handle wind better, last longer and look better from the street. The cost difference is modest, about 10–15% more than 3-tab, but the performance difference is substantial.
